Clay County Schools 2026-27 Calendar: Key Dates for Families

The district’s PDF has every date on the Clay County Schools calendar, but it doesn’t do the math for you. We went through the 2026-27 version date by date, counted the weekends around each break, split out the early release days by grade level and lined up the grading dates with when report cards actually post. Below is what stood out, followed by every date in lists you can scan.

The biggest takeaway: the breaks are longer than they look. Once you count the weekends, Thanksgiving is nine days off in a row, winter break is 17 and spring break is 10, because a planning day sits on the Friday before it.

At a glance:
Thanksgiving: Sat., Nov. 21 through Sun., Nov. 29 (9 days)
Winter break: Sat., Dec. 19 through Mon., Jan. 4 (17 days, back Tues., Jan. 5)
Spring break: Fri., March 19 through Sun., March 28 (10 days, back Mon., March 29)
Last day for students: Thursday, May 27, 2027

What the calendar doesn’t spell out

Two kids, two early release schedules. Elementary schools have six scattered early release days. Junior high and high schools follow a different schedule, with three early release days in December and another three in May. The only days everyone gets out early are Dec. 18 and May 27. If you have kids in both, put both lists on your calendar.

Planning days don’t look like holidays. Oct. 12, Jan. 4 and March 19 are marked as teacher planning days, but students are home. Jan. 4 is the reason winter break runs through a Monday, and March 19 is what stretches spring break to 10 days. These are the ones most likely to slip past a work calendar or a child care plan.

Veterans Day lands on a Wednesday. Nov. 11 is a midweek day off, so it won’t ride along with a weekend the way the Monday holidays do. Line up child care early if you work that day.

Senior year ends in stages. The district lists graduation on Friday, May 21, nearly a week before the last day for students on May 27. Ceremony times and tickets come from each high school, so check with yours. Final report cards don’t post until June 4, a week after school lets out.

Before you book anything

Storms can change the school calendar, so check the district’s official calendars page for the current version before you book anything nonrefundable, and keep the OneClay app on your phone for closure alerts. The printable PDF there is still the place for the fine print.
