Want water views? Head to Fleming Island

For a meal on the water, the classic move is a short drive south.

They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead (904-269-4198) up to 30 minutes before you arrive to get on the wait list. Call-ahead may not be available at peak times. Mondays, it opens at 3 p.m. View in the What’s Good Local Guide

A few Orange Park dining tips

  • Mondays are tricky. Palermo, Valentina's and Lola's are closed, and Whitey's opens at 3 p.m. Callahan's, Metro Diner and One Night Taco Stand are safer bets.
  • Grumpy's closes early. It's done at 2 p.m. every day, weekends included.
  • Weekend plans: Whitey's doesn't take reservations, so use its call-ahead list. Call Valentina's before a weekend visit.
  • Hours change. If you're making a special trip or going on a holiday, check the restaurant's current hours before you leave.
